Simran Gill on Vietnam
This year, I went to Vietnam with a friend for my grad trip. My parents were terrified: two (slightly) airheaded girls all alone in a developing country – what if something went wrong? Well, a lot went wrong. There were many times when I found myself wishing I were back in my very safe home. But the priceless moments I experienced made it worth it. Vietnam is home to some of the most incredible sights – Dalat’s pine trees, Hoi An’s old world charm, Hue’s Perfume River, Sapa’s highlands and the untouched beauty of Ha Long Bay. Nature is truly beautiful and wondrous and I got to witness its magnificence.
Simon Kaplan on California Highway
This summer I realized an ambition I’ve held for 40 years: I drove on California Highway 1, the coast road from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Spectacular does not do it justice. Seemingly around each bend in the road (and there are many) was yet another sumptuous view. If you ever have the opportunity, do that drive.
Ken Habarta on Citibike
The Citibike program finally launched in New York. I love riding around town. Best thing to happen to New York since the Metrocard.
